The Meissen Floral Ballpoint Pen was inspired by a large vase with a Kakiemon flower and bird design, now on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Since Japanese designs are so popular, specifically the colorful floral designs of Kakiemon porcelains, they were imitated by the major eighteenth-century European manufactures. This ballpoint pen has a silver overlay with printed lacquer and black ink.
