Montegrappa pays tribute to operas with the Emozioni in Musica pen collection. This limited edition pen from the collection honors Giuseppe Verdi's Rigoletto. Verdi's three act opera was first performed on March 11, 1851 in Venice and was an immediate success. Rigoletto is considered by many to be a masterpiece and it was the sixth most frequently performed opera in Italy between 2006 and 2010.
Limited edition of 900 fountain pens
Solid 18K gold nib
The design of the Rigoletto pen immediately recalls the attire of the traditional court jester
The body and cap are made of resin
The body required the use of the diffusion bonding technique to create its mosaic effect
Solid silver trim
A handmade black and red glass “murrina” on top of the red cap was inspired by the puffy sleeves and pantaloons that comprise a harlequin’s garb
The pocket clip is styled in the manner of the jester’s footwear
Engraved into the ring that secures the pocket clip is a pattern that recalls the “skirt” favored by jesters with triangular extensions ending in little bells
Etched on the ring encircling the body where the threads appear is a pattern to denote the type of belt worn by a jester
